The Engineering Discipline offers comprehensive engineering programmes spanning construction, electrical and electronic engineering, computer and data engineering, mechanical and building services engineering, transportation, and artificial intelligence and robotics. Supported by strong industry networks, state-of-the-art facilities, and qualified teaching staff with extensive experience, we deliver high-quality engineering education. Beyond theoretical knowledge, our programmes emphasise practical training through simulated work environments and work attachments, equipping students with the technical competencies needed for career advancement or further studies.

Career Prospect

Internship and Exchange

Engineering Discipline provides Industrial Attachment & Industry-Based Student Project (IA-IBSP) Scheme, which is a "work-based experience scheme" providing a real-life organisational context for students to develop specific or generic skills, which is valuable to
their professional development.

Every year, IVE Engineering students will receive placements for industrial attachment in different companies/organisations. In Academic Year 2023/24, around 1,000 students took part in the attachment in around 230 companies/organisations and part of them are listed below:

Highlights

IVE Engineering graduates and students demonstrated remarkable performance at the WorldSkills Lyon 2024, clinching a bronze medal and Medallions for Excellence

Hosted in Lyon, France, the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 attracted participation from over 70 countries and regions, with more than 1,400 contestants competing in 62 categories. In this year's global event, the Hong Kong team made its debut in the "Aircraft Maintenance" category, with IVE Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Higher Diploma graduate Wong Fu Tung wining the bronze medal. Meanwhile, IVE Mechanical Engineering Higher Diploma Students Lam Choi Chi and Ng Wing Kwan excelled in the mechatronics competition, securing a Medallion for Excellence.

Engineering students showcased creativity at the Creative Engineering and Architectural Design Competition 2024

The "Barrier-Free Smart Mailbox" project developed by students from Higher Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering won both the Gold Award and the Best Design Award. The project leveraged technologies like optical character recognition and large language models to significantly improve the building's postal system, reducing the space needed for traditional mailboxes and making it easier for elderly and mobility-impaired individuals to collect mail. This enhancement greatly improves the convenience of residents' lives.

IVE Engineering students won three awards at the 2024 RoboGame Robotics Competition in the USA

IVE Higher Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics first-year student, Fan Ho-wai, participated in the 2024 RoboGame Robotics Competition held in California, USA, from April 19 to 21. With his self-designed robot, he achieved remarkable success, securing one Silver Award and two Bronze Awards across three categories. This achievement highlights the students' dedication and innovative capabilities in the field of robotics.

IVE Engineering students won the award of Smart Technology Application in Hong Kong Electronics Project Competition 2024

IVE Engineering students won silver medal at the 2nd "Belt and Road" International Skills Competition

The Second Belt and Road International Skills Competition was held from 24 to 26 June 2024 in Chongqing. The competition brought together nearly 200 contestants from 61 countries and regions to compete in 18 skill categories. IVE Engineering student Wong Wai Shing participated in the IoT installation and debugging category. Drawing on the expertise gained through the Higher Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering programme, Wong competed and exchanged ideas with participants from 16 other countries, ultimately winning a silver medal.

IVE Engineering solar car team won the 3rd place in the Cruiser Class of the World Solar Challenge (WSC) 2019 in Australia.

Racing over 3000km from Darwin to Adelaide, the WSC attracted 44 teams from 21 regions. Our team was charged to full power to compete for the championship against top-notch engineering students from around the globe. With stable performance and excellent team spirit, they successfully overcame the challenges and achieved glory in the international competition.
