Programme Aims
The programme prepares students for surveying professional careers in: (1) Building Surveying - planning, design and managing building projects and inspection of new and existing buildings in accordance with relevant building regulations, building management ordinances and industry guidelines or (2) Quantity Surveying - financial planning and management, tendering and contract administration, value assessment and project management for construction projects.

The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment in the surveying field after graduation.

Professional Recognition
The programme has been recognised as having academic qualifications of a sufficient standard for entry to the Assessment of Professional Competence by the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS). Graduates with relevant working experience can apply as Probationers to undertake prescribed professional training (normally not less than 24 months) and apply for HKIS Assessment of Professional Competence to be admitted as Associate Members of HKIS.

The programme is widely accepted by the construction industry. It is also accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM) as a required academic qualification for their Associate Membership.

Graduates with relevant work experience are eligible to become Grades T1 to T3 of Technically Competent Person (TCP) for specific streams and scopes under the Site Supervision Plan System of the Buildings Ordinance. (This applies to graduates of the BS Elective Module Set only).

Graduates who complete the required module of the programme will be issued with Green Cards that fulfills the Mandatory Basic Safety Training requirement for working on construction sites.
 
The programme is currently a CIC-accredited BIM Coordinator (CCBC) Course, and the renewal of accreditation status will be sought in AY2024/25.
