Programme Aims | The programme aims to provide students with the necessary technical and professional knowledge and skills, via the blending of theoretical knowledge and practical application, to become professionals in Computer, Electronic and Communications Engineering, Control and Automation, or related fields. The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation. | |
Career Prospects | Graduates may be employed as technicians in areas such as communication services and technologies, electronic and computer control, microcontroller systems development, computers and mobile devices programming, and network design, artificial intelligence and robotics, or related industries. After gaining a few years of working experience, graduates may advance to an engineering position in the related industry. | |
Articulation | Graduates can apply for admission to the relevant BEng (Hons) degree programmes offered by the local universities. Upon admission to relevant degree programmes, graduates can apply for credit exemption. The level of exemption will be considered on an individual basis by respective universities. This Higher Diploma programme is recognised by overseas universities for admission. Graduates can further their studies on a full-time or part-time basis for a BEng (Hons) Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering# ^ offered by the University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE), UK (12-months full-time or 18-months part-time programme study in Hong Kong in collaboration with SHAPE of VTC). # It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which this course may lead. Please refer to the corresponding programme page in the website of SHAPE for the registered course no. ^ Similar higher diploma programmes were approved by the UWE as satisfying the admission requirement currently. This new programme will seek approval from UWE at appropriate time. | |
