Programme Aims | The programme will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become competent professionals in mechanical engineering. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have acquired the necessary academic, technical and management knowledge and skills which enables them to secure employment in the technical / operational / market development and follow-up services functions in the field of mechanical engineering. This programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation. | |
Career Prospects | Graduates are normally employed as assistant engineers, technicians, supervisors, operations staff, technical sales and services officers, safety officers and computer-aided draftsmen in the areas of mechanical engineering, plant facilities repairs and maintenance, aircraft maintenance, theme park, E&M operation and maintenance, testing and inspection, product design, transportation and logistics, technical products services or utilities sectors. | |
Articulation | Graduates can apply for admission to the relevant BEng (Hons) courses offered by the following local universities :
Upon admission to relevant degree courses, graduates can apply for credit exemption. The level of exemption will be considered on individual basis. Higher Diploma is recognised by most overseas universities. | |
Professional Recognition | The Department is negotiating with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in assessing and recognizing our graduates from this programme as satisfying the academic requirements for its Associate membership. | |
