Programme Aims
The programme equips students, who would have acquired a certain level of practical skill from their current working in the relevant field of the automotive industry, with in-depth and latest professional and practical knowledge for further career development and become professionals in automotive engineering. Emphasis will especially be placed on critical thinking, effective communication, problem-solving and innovative capabilities and team spirit. Upon completion of the programme, graduates are confident to work independently as well as in a team and become leaders in their chosen field of the industry.

The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.
Career Prospects
The Automotive Engineering industry has a strong, continuing presence in Hong Kong.
Graduates may take up positions as assistant engineers, technicians; service advisors or supervisors. They may be employed by light or heavy vehicle after-sales service centres, environmental protection technology enterprises, vehicle safety inspection centres, vehicle component development companies and road transport-related firms.
Articulation
Graduates may apply for admission to the relevant BEng (Hons) programmes offered by the following local universities:
  1. The University of Hong Kong;
  2. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology;
  3. The Chinese University of Hong Kong;
  4. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University;
  5. City University of Hong Kong.
Upon admission to relevant degree programmes, graduates may apply for credit exemption. The level of exemption will be considered on an individual basis.
Higher Diploma is recognised by most overseas universities.
Professional Recognition
The graduates from this programme satisfy the academic requirements of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the Institute of the Motor Industry Hong Kong for its Associate membership.
