Skilling Talent • Sparking Innovation
Mr Tony TAI Chark-tong, JP
Chairman
Vocational and professional education and training (VPET) plays an important role in enhancing the competitiveness of a city. Since its establishment in 1982, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) has opened doors to numerous young people and working adults to pursue recognised qualifications through quality VPET programmes. Our graduates have played important roles in their professions and contributed to key industrial sectors in Hong Kong, from information technology, engineering, design, business, tourism and hospitality, health and life sciences, child education to community services industries. Our students and graduates have also been giving back and contributing to the betterment of society through their professional skills and knowledge.
The VTC is constantly striving for excellence and continues to innovate, enhancing the quality of our teaching and learning, embracing innovative technology and opening up new frontiers to help build a talent pool the society needs. As guided by our Fourth 8-Year Strategic Plan, the VTC will continue to steer new initiatives, including development of holistic curriculum, diversification of multidisciplinary learning opportunities, engineering of smart and green campuses, among others so as to gear towards the grooming of a new generation of smart talent and responsible citizens for social good.
Year 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of the VTC. The anniversary theme “Skilling Talent • Sparking Innovation” highlights VTC’s commitment to develop skilled talent and provide platforms for sparking innovation to help build Hong Kong into a world-class smart city. On this momentous milestone, I sincerely hope that the VTC will continue to enjoy strong support from stakeholders and the community. I am confident that through sustained partnerships with the Government, industry and institutions alike, we will continue to excel and scale new heights.
