VTC confers Honorary Fellowships on six distinguished industry leaders

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) held the VTC Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony today (6 November) to present the VTC Honorary Fellowship to six industry leaders in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and the community.
Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Alfred SIT, commended the VTC Honorary Fellows in his pre-recorded speech for their commitment to contributing their professional know-how to society and serving as a bridge between academia and industry. They provided valuable input for programme design and development and supported student development by providing various internship and employment opportunities. He said, “We are indeed impressed by their dedication in promoting VPET for the betterment of society.” At the ceremony, the Acting Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr David CHUNG, conferred the Honorary Fellowships on the six distinguished personalities, Prof Karen CHAN Ka-yin, Mr David KWOK Sek-chi, Mr Jackson LEUNG Siu-yin, Sr Dr Peter NG Yau-yee, Prof Cliff SUN Kai-lit and Mr Johnny YEUNG Chi-hung in recognition of their contributions to the development of VPET (Please refer to Annex 1 for details).
VTC Chairman, Mr Tony TAI, thanked the Honorary Fellows for unstintingly supporting the development of VPET. He remarked that governmental and industry support was crucial to the successful implementation of Applied Education. He said, “Applied Education is gaining momentum across the globe, on a par with the development of traditional education. VTC places a premium on the dual track mode in which students are required to be both minds-on and hands-on, helping to cultivate talent needed by industries and society.” Mr Tai also mentioned the recent opening of the Innovation & Technology Co-creation Centre and the Internet-of-Things (IoT) Innovation and Technology Centre, which provided platforms for students to participate in industry projects. He looked forward to deepening collaboration with industry and furthering the development of Applied Education.
