VTC confers Honorary Fellowships on seven distinguished industry leaders

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) held the VTC Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony today (28 September) to present the VTC Honorary Fellowships to seven industry leaders in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and the community. The recipients are: Ms Sabrina CHAO Sih-ming, Mr Robert LAI Kai-tung, Dr James J. LAM, Mr Kevin O’BRIEN, Lady Ivy WU KWOK Sau-ping, Professor Eric YIM Chi-ming, and Ms Linda YIP Wai-mun (Please refer to Annex for details).
Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr CHEUK Wing-hing, addressed the ceremony as the Guest of Honour. He complimented the VTC Honorary Fellows on their valuable contributions to the development of VTC and VPET. He also thanked the VTC for helping youth gain the skills and knowledge they need to make a rewarding difference for themselves and for Hong Kong over the years. Citing remarks made by President Xi Jinping, “Hong Kong will prosper only when its young people thrive; Hong Kong will develop only when its young people achieve well-rounded development; and Hong Kong will have a bright future only when its young people have good career prospects”, he encouraged VTC to continue promoting Hong Kong youth so that more opportunities will be created for their development and accomplishment.
VTC Chairman, Mr Tony TAI, thanked the Honorary Fellows for their contributions to VTC. He also commended their exemplary achievements in various professional fields and their unfailing support to promote VPET. He further noted that the VTC had groomed many skilled talents in the past four decades thanks to the staunch support of the HKSAR Government and industry partners. He looked forward to closer collaborations with different stakeholders to provide more opportunities for young people to unleash their potential and move up the professional ladder. He remarked that concerted efforts is the key to advancing VPET to another new height and producing a dynamic pool of skilled talents for industries and society.
Established in 1982, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) is the largest vocational and professional education and training provider in Hong Kong. The mission of VTC is to provide a valued choice to school leavers and working people to acquire the values, knowledge and skills for lifelong learning and enhanced employability, and also to provide support to industries for their manpower development.
