    Announcement of New Directorate Appointment

    A new appointment at the Directorate rank has been made with effect from 3 October 2026.

    Ir Dr HUI Yan-keung, John

    Ir Dr Hui has been appointed as Deputy Executive Director, leading the strategic development of VTC’s continuing and professional education, overseeing Design, Health and Life Science as well as Information Technology Disciplines, and concurrently as Chief Digital Officer to drive the digital transformation of VTC. With extensive VPET experience, he has strengthened industry-education collaboration to keep programmes relevant and forward-looking. He has also been instrumental in advancing curriculum innovation by integrating emerging technologies and AI knowledge into programme development, while promoting innovative pedagogy to enhance student learning for the digital age.

    Prior to this appointment, he is the Principal of Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT), Academic Director of Information Technology, and Chief Digital Officer of VTC. Ir Dr Hui held several senior IT leadership roles at local universities and international IT services company before. He actively engaged with professional bodies and industry associations, and currently serves on multiple committees of the Hong Kong Computer Society, including the CIO Board, and iLEAP.

    Ir Dr Hui holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (The University of Hong Kong), a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Hong Kong Baptist University), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (The City University of Hong Kong). His professional engineering qualifications/memberships include Member of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), Fellow of Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS), and Member of Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association (HKPASEA).
