VTC and HKPC sign MoU to jointly promote VPET and nurture talent with technical expertise and innovative capabilities

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) and Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), deepening collaboration between the two parties across various areas, including fostering the development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET), skills training, technology promotion, and innovative technology development. The partnership aims to nurture VPET talent equipped with both professional knowledge and skills to support Hong Kong’s economic and social development.
The signing ceremony of the MoU took place yesterday (17 November) at the VTC Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre. Witnessed by Tony TAI, Chairman of VTC and Emil YU, Deputy Chairman of HKPC, the MoU was signed by Donald TONG, Executive Director of VTC and Mohamed BUTT, Executive Director of HKPC.
In his address, Tony TAI, Chairman of VTC, remarked that VTC and HKPC have been working closely together and share a common vision for talent development. The signing of this MoU marks a new milestone in the collaboration between the two parties in promoting VPET, thereby cultivating more forward-looking and innovative talent with global perspectives to meet future industry challenges and inject impetus into Hong Kong’s development.
Emil YU, Deputy Chairman of HKPC, expressed that HKPC will continue to provide VTC students with comprehensive internship opportunities and mentorship programmes, which will systematically integrate AI-related training and practical experience to enhance their professional skills and strengthen their understanding and interest in the innovation and technology industry, thereby advancing HKPC and Hong Kong’s innovation and technology development.
According to the MoU, VTC and HKPC will strengthen their collaboration in VPET to support Hong Kong’s economic and technology development, and expand Hong Kong's vocational talent pool. HKPC will provide VTC students with a wide range of learning opportunities, including industrial attachments, graduate employment opportunities, and mentorship to VTC students studying Higher Diploma programmes in Engineering, Information Technology, Health and Life Sciences, Hospitality, and Business disciplines. These initiatives will help students stay abreast of the latest industry developments, knowledge, and skills, thereby enhancing their career competitiveness. In addition, HKPC will offer apprenticeship training for VTC students, enabling them to apply their learning in real work environments and further develop their professional skills.
Both parties will also co-organise a variety of career exploration activities and career talks for secondary school students and the public to promote career planning and industry exploration. These activities will enhance their understanding and interest in emerging technological applications and innovation, nurturing high-calibre talent to meet Hong Kong’s future needs.
