Ir Antonio CHAN Chi-ming was conferred the VTC Honorary Fellowship by Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Ms Mable CHAN, JP

Ir Antonio CHAN is the Deputy Managing Director of REC Engineering Company Limited (REC). He stands as a shining example of the transformative power of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET). His remarkable career journey, from an apprentice to an industry leader, demonstrates the impact of VPET in nurturing talent, driving innovation, and contributing to societal development.

In addition to his capacity as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors, Ir CHAN actively participated in public services, serving on various committees and boards under Government Bureaux and Departments, as well as industry associations, providing advice related to energy conservation, construction innovation and technology.

As a visionary leader in the industry, Ir CHAN has led pioneering engineering innovations in Hong Kong, such as the first floating solar photovoltaic power generation system and the first puzzle-stacking automated parking system. He has also piloted the first concrete MiC project in Hong Kong. These initiatives advanced industry standards and positioned Hong Kong as a hub for innovative construction practices.

Ir CHAN is a passionate advocate for VPET and the VTC. Since 2021, he has been contributing his industry expertise in his capacity as a Member of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Training Board and the Engineering Discipline Advisory Board.

Over the past decade, with the support from Ir CHAN, REC has generously donated scholarships to VTC, benefiting approximately 100 students. He has also donated MiMEP kits to the Innovative Construction Technology Centre at Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) to support the learning and teaching. Furthermore, REC supports the VTC “Apprenticeship Training Scheme” by employing around 500 apprentices and consistently providing 20 to 30 internship opportunities each year for VTC engineering students.
