Sponsoring professional training and competition venues

Hong Kong is reputed as a “Culinary Capital”, thanks to the hard work of the city’s culinary talent. As a collaborative effort to promote Chinese and Western culinary training, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) has supported the robust development of talent for the local catering industry through donation and participation in events and projects organised by Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) and International Culinary Institute (ICI). It has facilitated the setting up of the “Chinese Demonstration Kitchen” in CCI and the “Hall of Gastronomy” on the entire second floor of ICI, providing professional venues for competition and training of culinary, food and beverage service and event management for the institutes.

Grooming industry talent through competitions and scholarship

Towngas has been actively supporting and sponsoring the biannual “Young Chef Chinese Culinary Competition” so as to encourage young chefs to hone their cooking skills. Besides offering the “Professional Performance Award”, their representatives have also served as judges of culinary competitions and presented awards to the winning contestants. Enabling practising chefs to strengthen their professional skills and management knowledge, Towngas has provided a scholarship for the Master Chef Course in Chinese Cuisine to foster the development of culinary professionals and overall enhancement of industry standard.
