Internship opportunities for grooming future-ready talent

Supported by J.P. Morgan, the program offers a series of on-the-job training, including industrial attachments, career coaching and real-life problem-based projects, to equip about 600 Higher Diploma students pursuing STEM-related innovative technology and digital professions to help address Hong Kong’s demand for talent as the territory looks to transform itself into a smart city.

“Under the “Future-ready Talent Incubation Program” supported by J.P. Morgan, Tony Kwan, a Higher Diploma in Cloud and Data Centre Administration student, has been offered an opportunity for industrial attachment with a large corporation Melco Resorts Services Limited.”

Practical work experience broadens one’s horizons

In more than 300 hours of practical learning, Tony participated in cloud operation work, where he learnt the importance of factoring in business considerations like administrative cost, when undertaking solutions design. After graduation, he leveraged on this episode of work experience to secure a job at Amazon Web Services: “The experience I gained in utilising technical solutions at Melco Resorts Services Limited has enabled me to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the solutions at hand. I have been using such experience to good advantage while tailoring customer solutions at Amazon Web Services,” he said.”

Gaining greater clarity on career direction

Tony’s mentor at Melco encouraged him to venture into other professional fields to acquire a more comprehensive experience. Currently, Tony is continuing to develop his strengths at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He believes that corporate internship has not only helped him to accumulate precious work experience but also given him greater clarity about where he wants his career to be headed. In the future, he will continue to acquire various other professional credentials to strengthen his career.
