Chevalier Group Scholarship

Cultivating talent for the engineering industry

This scholarship has been established to groom young professional talent for Hong Kong’s engineering and construction industries. Each year, the Group awards scholarship to 40 academically outstanding students from the Civil Engineering, Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer and Electronic Engineering programmes. A total of 120 engineering students have benefitted since its inception.

Second-year Higher Diploma in Surveying student Leon Chu has been awarded the “Chevalier Group Scholarship”, for which he feels greatly encouraged with a determination to pursue an engineering profession.

Studying abroad for a horizon-expanding experience

Leon said: “I plan to use the scholarship wisely and have applied for a Quantity Surveying bachelor degree programme with a British university, hoping that the experience will broaden my horizons and provide an opportunity for me to learn more about the architectural cultures of different countries. Setting his sights on joining the surveying sector, he said: “I plan to become a registered quantity surveyor through furthering my education and accumulating hands-on work experience. Besides flexibly applying the professional knowledge in different countries, I will also keep close track of the latest developments in architectural technologies and contribute to the industry with a serious, pragmatic and professional attitude.”

Emulating the spirit of knighthood

Leon is grateful to Chevalier Group for offering him the scholarship: ‘Chevalier is a French word meaning “knight”. I will work hard to learn the Group’s “spirit of knighthood”, with its unyielding dedication to charge forward and striving for the best results.’
