Ms. Jenny LAU - HSBC Speak for Success Programme Beneficiary

Reflecting on my journey with the HSBC Speak for Success Programme, I now recognise how much I have grown, from a shy high school student afraid of everyday conversations to a confident young professional. The Programme offered a structured pathway that transformed my confidence, leadership, and sense of direction.

In Year 1, I focused on personal image and basic communication skills, learning to organize my thoughts and speak up in small groups. In Year 2, through emcee training, career-oriented workshops, and collaborative team activities, I strengthened my public presentation and networking abilities. Engaging with HSBC volunteers was especially impactful which inspired me to set higher standards for myself.

I began leading group discussions, hosting the VTC Concert as emcee, and ultimately presented at the SFS Final Showcase. Together with my teammates, I also developed an online game to help young people learn financial management skills, turning our communication into community impact. That project later won an award.

After graduation, I returned to VTC as an alumna mentor, guiding current students to apply presentation and communication skills in real-life settings. The Programme transformed me from a hesitant person into a confident leader committed to paying it forward.
