Jockey Club Green Horsepower Initiative - New Energy Vehicles Day for Social Welfare Sector was successfully held on 7 August 2026 at IVE (Tsing Yi), bringing together government officials, industry leaders and social service organisations to promote sustainable transportation solutions for the social welfare sector.

The event was honoured by the presence of Mr LEUNG Wai Man, Principal Assistant Secretary (Air Policy), Environment and Ecology Bureau, HKSAR; Mr Arnold Hui, Deputy Executive Manager, Charities, The Hong Kong Jockey Club. They were joined by representatives from VTC and Hong Kong Council of Social Service, along with 50 social welfare organisations and over 170 leading industry stakeholders, who exchanged insights on the development and adoption of green transport solutions. Their participation underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing sustainable transportation and supporting the sector's green transition.

The event commenced with an interactive guided tour showcasing the latest commercial electric vehicles, accessible transport solutions and electric vehicle charging technologies. This was followed by six thematic seminars covering new energy vehicle adoption in social welfare services, emerging industry technologies, eFleet operations and funding applications. The event provided a valuable platform for industry stakeholders and social welfare service users to exchange ideas, share experiences and jointly advance green transformation.

Thanks to the generous donation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, VTC has been able to upgrade the facilities of its Jockey Club Heavy Vehicle Emissions Testing and Research Centre and expand its scope of services to promote new energy vehicles. This enables VTC to provide professional technical support and consultancy services to the social welfare sector, assisting it in replacing fuel-powered vehicles, overcoming barriers to the adoption of new energy vehicles, and advancing green transportation. VTC extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
