In support of the vocational and professional education and training (VPET) in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association (HKCEA) and the China Development Bank (CDB) Hong Kong Branch donated HKD 500,000 to the Vocational Training Council (VTC) to support Hong Kong contestants in their preparation for “The 48th WorldSkills Competition”, set to take place in Shanghai in 2026. This partnership highlights a shared commitment to advancing VPET and empowering local talents to showcase Hong Kong’s excellence on the global stage.
The “WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 Cheque Presentation Ceremony ” was held on 13 January at the VTC Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre. The event was officiated by Mr. Xu Wei, Director of Local Affairs of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association; Mr Liu Wensheng, Vice President of China Development Bank Hong Kong Branch; and Mr. Donald Tong, Executive Director of the Vocational Training Council. Together, they marked this collaborative milestone, reaffirming a collective commitment to nurturing Hong Kong’s skilled workforce.
VTC extends its heartfelt gratitude to both organisations for their steadfast support. The donation will be directly utilised to support skills training and competition preparation of Hong Kong contestants. This initiative not only strengthens their international competitiveness but also inspire more young people to recognise the value of skills development and elevates the status and growth of vocational education in Hong Kong.
Looking forward, VTC will continue to partner with various partners to cultivate future-ready professionals equipped with the expertise and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic global landscape. Through these efforts, VTC aims to empower Hong Kong to play a more prominent role in the regional and global skills arena, fostering innovation and excellence in VPET.
