Around 1,400 Outstanding VTC Students Awarded Government Scholarships in the 2024/25 Academic Year

The HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund (GSF) and the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund (SPEF) Joint Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2025 was held on 24 April 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Representatives from the Vocational Training Council (VTC) and awardee representatives were invited by the Education Bureau to attend the Ceremony. The Funds offered a range of scholarships and awards to recognize exceptional students. In the 2024/25 academic year, scholarships and awards, amounting to about $190 million were granted benefiting over 6,000 outstanding students, including around 1,400 students from the VTC.
WAN Pui-yiu was one of the awardees of the Scholarship for Outstanding Performance in the AY2024/25 academic year. She is currently studying for the Higher Diploma in Maritime Studies at the Maritime Services Training Institute (MSTI). Pui-yiu is determined to join the maritime industry, work around the world to broaden her horizons. She is devoted to contributing herself to the sustainable development of Hong Kong and the global shipping industry with the goal of becoming a captain. She shared that MSTI's professional training provides students essential maritime skills and knowledge, effectively enhancing their communication abilities and team spirit, which supports them to set sail in their maritime careers. Pui-yiu is grateful to the Government for recognising her academic performance and providing financial support through the scholarship, helping her pursue her dreams.
The scholarships and awards under the HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund include Scholarship for Outstanding Performance, Talent Development Scholarship, Reaching Out Award and Endeavour Merit Award. The Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) was established under the SPEF to promote the quality and sustainable development of the self-financing post-secondary sector in Hong Kong. It offers Outstanding Performance Scholarship, Best Progress Award, Talent Development Scholarship, Reaching Out Award and Endeavour Scholarship.
