The Swire Sky-Flyer Work-Integrated Learning Programme Achieves Successful Completion
The Swire Sky-Flyer Work-Integrated Learning Programme (“The Swire Sky-Flyer”) was launched to enhance the employability of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) students by providing enriched workplace learning and practice, professional experience sharing, and overseas skills training.
Since the 2020/21 academic year, the Swire Sky-Flyer has nurtured over 2,500 Higher Diploma students through scholarships, awards, and allowances, as well as sponsorships for industry-specific learning activities both locally and abroad. In addition, the Swire Group has contributed significantly by offering internship opportunities to VTC students, allowing them to gain first-hand industry experience. Students from disciplines such as Engineering, Aviation Logistics and Services, and Hospitality have benefitted greatly from the Programme. Positive feedback consistently highlights the Programme’s strong support for their academic growth, professional development, and career readiness.
Support for VTC Students Amidst COVID-19 Challenges
Originally scheduled to conclude in August 2023, the Programme faced disruptions due to the social and travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the generosity of the Swire Trust, the Swire Sky-Flyer was extended to the fourth quarter of 2025, ensuring its positive impact could continue into the post-pandemic period.
Expanding Global Horizons
During the post-pandemic period, a total of 10 outbound tours were successfully organized and benefitted some 200 students. These tours provided valuable opportunities to travel to Chinese Mainland, Singapore, Japan and Australia etc. where participants gained deeper industrial knowledge and broadened their global perspectives.
Successful Programme Completion
With its successful conclusion in 2025, the Swire Sky-Flyer has made a significant contribution to advancing VPET in Hong Kong. By equipping thousands of students with workplace experience, global exposure, and essential skills, the Programme has played a meaningful role in nurturing future talent and strengthening industry‑education collaboration.
