The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships - Vocational Education Scholarship Awardees Sharing Session 2025 was held on 26 August at the Member Stand, Happy Valley Racecourse, bringing together approximately 30 scholarship recipients who will be pursuing studies both locally and overseas. This event fostered networking and the sharing of insights on personal and professional growth.
Ms Ling Hung, Deputy Executive Manager, Charities of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, opened the session by sharing inspiring stories of Jockey Club scholars, urging awardees to unlock their potential and contribute to Hong Kong’s societal advancement. The guest speaker, Ms Candy Wong, Director of Sprouts Foundation, captivated attendees with insights on embracing infinite possibilities. Drawing from her own three phases of career transitions, she encouraged students to be ready for challenges, maintain curiosity, and hone critical thinking and communication skills to build lifelong wisdom and achieve future success.
Two awardees shared their transformative experiences. Ms Yumi Yau, currently pursuing a BSc (Honours) in Science of Sport Performance in the United Kingdom, spoke about adapting to an interactive learning environment and achieving the role of captain on her university’s badminton team. With aspirations to become an educator, she is committed to advancing sports development in Hong Kong. Mr Stef Wan, a Master of Architecture graduate in Denmark and a certified Danish Architect, expressed his passion for preserving and revitalizing historic buildings. He encouraged fellow students to seize exchange opportunities to broaden their global perspectives and contribute to heritage conservation in Hong Kong. In closing, Mr Simon Tang, Director of the Institutional Advancement Office of VTC, expressed heartfelt gratitude to The Hong Kong Jockey Club for its unwavering support. He encouraged students to honour those who have supported them and to apply their professional skills to create a positive impact on the community.
Since 2016/17, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships have supported around 130 graduates from the Diploma of Vocational Education to pursue further studies at Higher Diploma, and 27 graduates of Higher Diploma to pursue further studies at overseas degree programmes in the fields of Aerospace, Marine, Environmental, Architecture, Design and Hospitality.
