    The Wu Jieh Yee Arboriculture Education and Research Centre Opening Ceremony cum Establishment of Professor Li Ning Hon Memorial Endowment Fund was held on 10 September at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). The event was graced by the Governors of the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation, including Mr Jason WU, Mr Victor CHAN, Ms Monica WU, and Ms Tansy LAU. Dr YIP Chung Yin, Daniel, BBS, JP, Vice Chairman of THEi Board of Governors; Ms NGAN Shuk Yin, Winnie, Acting Deputy Executive Director, VTC; along Prof LAU Kin Tak, Alan, President of THEi, expressed their gratitude for the generous donation from the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation. This milestone event highlights the shared commitment to advancing education and research in both arboriculture and Chinese medicine.

    First Indoor Arboriculture Centre in Hong Kong’s Tertiary Institutions for Cultivating Arboricultural Professionals

    The Wu Jieh Yee Arboriculture Education and Research Centre, Hong Kong’s first indoor arboriculture facility among tertiary institutions, exemplifies innovative learning with its 10-meter-tall artificial tree—crafted from over 50 meters of steel and camphor wood—designed with attention to architectural aesthetics and structural safety to provide a realistic climbing experiences that complies with local building and construction standards. The Centre is equipped with advanced AR/VR tools and safety devices, offers comprehensive training for THEi students and industry professionals. Through the initiative, the Centre promotes research in tree climbing techniques, accident prevention, and aerial rescue, while also enhancing public education and professional development to improve public safety and promotes sustainable urban tree management. The Foundation also established a Green Admission Scholarship to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in arboriculture.

    Establishing Scholarships and Supporting Research Programmes for Promoting Chinese Medicine Research and Development

    The Professor Li Ning Hon Memorial Endowment Fund, supported by the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation, was launched to honour the legacy of the late Professor Li Ning Hon for his academic research and significant contributions to the legal framework for Chinese medicine, and talent development. The Fund provides scholarships for students in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chinese Medicinal Pharmacy and supports research projects in traditional Chinese medicine. The Fund also empowers students to uphold Professor Li’s values of academic rigour and compassion, fostering innovation while preserving the rich heritage of Chinese medicine. Through this initiative, students will have opportunities to participate in Chinese medicinal plant research programs held in the Mainland and overseas, nurturing the next generation of professionals in the field.
