VTC hosts the Programme Selection Info Day where discipline and programme booths will provide information on the diversified progression pathways made available. Meanwhile individual disciplines will mount exhibitions, demonstrations and industry sharing to help DSE students and parents grasp the latest information on further study

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) is to organise the VTC Programme Selection Info Day on 4 May for the current cohort of Secondary 6 candidates of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE). To help DSE candidates to chart their future pathway, programmes leading to the award of Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies and Diploma of Vocational Education will be introduced at the Info Day.

The Info Day will be held at the campus of VTC member institutions the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Lee Wai Lee. At the programme selection and discipline talks, the Education Advisors will share with DSE candidates and parents the latest admission intelligence and data, programme selection strategies and the advantages VTC programmes have in academic articulation and the workplace. Candidates can also chat to the teaching faculties of different disciplines and programmes to understand features of different programmes and their own progression and employment prospects.

Two Parents’ Talks will be also conducted by experts from Hok Yau Club, NG Po-shing and CHAN Sin-man, providing help for parents to handle the pressure of the DSE results release together with their children and plan with their children for future study and development.

Info booths will be set up to provide one-stop information on the comprehensive progression pathways from diploma to degree. In additional, exhibitions, demonstrations and industry sharing will be mounted such as the Virtual Reality (VR) experiential activities organised by the Engineering Discipline, the expert sharing sessions on Blockchain technology held by the interdisciplinary programme office and student showcases of the Information Technology Discipline demonstrating the application of varied technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things and cyber security.

The visitors will also be introduced to the VTC Earn and Learn Scheme which covers a variety of trades. The Scheme integrates both classroom learning and on-the-job training, where participants can make a stable income and enjoy incentive allowances, providing an ideal progression pathway.

VTC is now inviting late applications for its Post-Secondary 6 programmes. Secondary 6 students applying online on or before 6 May will have a chance to be invited to a course interview (as appropriate) and be given a conditional offer before DSE result release. Applicants will then enjoy a better opportunity to be admitted to their programme of choice.
