Mr Simon CHAN is the Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and has over 40 years of experience in the banking, finance, and information technology industries, with expertise spanning across the fields of information technology, corporate governance, organisational reform, risk management and IT security. He had been in the Vice Chairman, Executive Director, Chief Executive and various senior executive roles in Nanyang Commercial Bank, Limited, and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited.
Mr Chan actively participates in industry and community service. He had been a long-serving member of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited and as a Member of numerous organisations, including the Banking Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Qualifications Framework under Education Bureau, the Committee on Innovation, Technology and Re-industrialisation and the Finance Committee of the Housing Authority. Besides, he is an advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation and the former President of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association China Hong Kong Chapter.
Mr Chan is a long-standing supporter of vocational and professional education and training. He has been appointed as the Chairman of the Banking and Finance Training Board since 2019 and has led the Working Party of Manpower Survey of this Training Board as the Convenor, which has made remarkable strides for the industry. With Mr Chan’s tremendous support, VTC students have gained invaluable workplace learning opportunities at Nanyang Commercial Bank since 2013. Between 2017 and 2021, Nanyang Commercial Bank further strengthened its support and launched the Teller Internship Program for VTC students of Higher Diploma in Banking and Finance. This year, Mr Chan has stepped up his support to VTC and serves as the Chairman of the Mainland Development Advisory Board, which comprises representatives from state-owned enterprises, leading private companies in Hong Kong and the Mainland. The professional network of Mr Chan has greatly contributed to the chairmanship of the advisory board which Mr Chan led the members and tendered valuable advice to VTC on its policies and work in relation to enhancing collaborations with Mainland enterprises from different industrial clusters.
