Dr Elizabeth WANG Ming-chun is a well-respected, influential and acclaimed artist, dedicated to the performing arts in Hong Kong for more than 40 years. With strong passion for performing arts and extraordinary versatility as actress, she has developed herself with remarkable success in different performing areas such as television dramas, Chinese Operas, TV variety shows and stage dramas, and has firmly established her unrivalled prestige and status in the field. She has received many awards for her performance of television dramas, and in 2007 was awarded the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award for her support for Chinese Opera.

Being a keen supporter of vocational education and training, Dr Wang’s connection with VTC started as early as 2005 when she was an honorary visiting lecturer of a course jointly offered by IVE and the Hong Kong Televisioners Association. Under her chairladyship, the Hong Kong Chinese Artists Association has developed and offered various in-service training courses in Chinese Operas under the Skills Upgrading Scheme administered by VTC. Dr Wang has also initiated the collaboration with the Hong Kong Design Institute in the design of costumes for a recent Chinese Opera“ De Ling and Empress Dowager Ci Xi” which has provided an excellent platform for design students to showcase their creative talents.

Notwithstanding her busy schedule, Dr Wang has generously accepted VTC’s invitation to be the Ambassador of the Integrated Vocational Development Centre (IVDC) in January 2010. She has actively participated in promoting IVDC and has given tremendous support in its publicity campaign. With her dynamic image and spirit of perseverance in the pursuit of lifelong learning, she is a role model for both staff and students of VTC.

Dr Wang was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR in 2004 for her contributions to the entertainment industry.
