Bright Future Charitable Foundation STEM in PE and Play Design Competition(“Competition”) Prize Presentation Ceremony cum Smart Sports and Leisure Week 2024 was successfully held at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education’s (IVE) Chai Wan Campus on 22 February 2024. The Competition attracted over 140 students from IVE and 22 teams from participating primary and secondary schools. After six training workshops and screening of competition proposals, twelve (12) shortlisted finalists (six secondary school teams and six primary school teams) were selected to present their innovative projects and showcase their applications of STEM into PE activities to the judging panel in the two final pitches. During the Ceremony, an additional highlight was the participation of 12 semi-final school teams from the Competition 2024 to present their innovative sports projects. They also seized the opportunity to engage in valuable exchanges with other schools and guests in order to enhance the overall project designs, as well as the gameplay elements and data analysis through collaborative discussions and feedback sessions.

In his speech, Dr. Roy CHUNG, the founder of the Bright Future Charitable Foundation encouraged the awardees to take the initiative to explore the integration of STEM into sports to cultivate their interest in innovation and technology, ultimately contributing to the society as a whole. He had a strong belief that nurturing innovative technology talents would drive social development and position Hong Kong as a leading international innovation and technology hub in the future.

The Competition was established in 2022 to foster STEM application into physical education in secondary and primary schools while promoting Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and VTC programmes to students. The programme has not only enabled students to develop STEM skills, but also inspired them to unleash their creativity and experience the fun of integrating technology with physical education.
