    The VTC Graduation Ceremony is held in hybrid mode this year where graduates can join the ceremony on campus to share the joyful moments

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) held its 2021 graduation ceremonies today (4 December) with other sessions to be held next week. Running in a hybrid mode, the ceremonies this year allow graduates and parents to attend onsite or watch online and share the joyful moments. Over 17,000 graduates from different VTC member institutions would be conferred awards ranging from Bachelor Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies, Diploma of Vocational Education, Diploma to Certificate.

The Secretary for Development, Mr Michael WONG, shared his three hopes with VTC graduates in his pre-recorded speech. He hoped graduates could find their real interest in life, and be motivated by turning an interest into a career or finding interest in their work. He also hoped graduates could maintain a long-lasting friendship with schoolmates who can be a strong support throughout their lifetime. Lastly, he hoped graduates could seize opportunities to contribute to the society, which would also enable them to understand more about themselves and the meaning of life. He also commended the VTC for its contributions to Hong Kong over the years by providing young people with education and training opportunities, and helping them explore their interests and develop a fruitful life.

VTC Chairman, Mr Tony TAI, and VTC Executive Director, Dr Carrie YAU, addressed the graduates at the ceremony. Mr Tai noted that the HKSAR Government was committed to promoting I&T development and re-industrialisation, encouraging multipartite collaborations between the Government, industry, academia and research sectors, with a view to building a comprehensive I&T ecosystem, making I&T a new impetus to the economy of Hong Kong. Actively responding to society’s talent demand, the VTC sets sights on developing smart campuses, implementing technology-enhanced teaching and learning, and adopting project-based learning approach, spearheading industry co-creation projects to help students grasp professional knowledge, applied skills at the workplace and emerging technologies. VTC Executive Director, Dr Carrie YAU encouraged the graduates to embrace the unknown as they move forward and keep learning, take chances and stay ethical for these are the golden rules for personal and professional success.

The graduation ceremony was held today at VTC member institutions, including the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the Maritime Services Training Institute (MSTI) while the graduation ceremony of other member institutions, including the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), the Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI), the Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI), the International Culinary Institute (ICI) and Youth College will be held next week. Separately, VTC recently held the VTC Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony to present the VTC Honorary Fellowship to seven industry leaders in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and the community. Seven VTC Honorary Fellowship included Managing Director of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Ir CHIANG Tung-keung; Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation Limited, Dr Jacob KAM Chak-pui; Chairman and Managing Director of Chevalier International Holdings Limited, Mr KUOK Hoi-sang; Chairman and Executive Director of Thelloy Development Group Limited, Sr Eddie LAM Kin-wing; Founder & Chairman of Brilliant International Group Limited, Dr Allen SHI Lop-tak; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Musical International Holdings Limited, Mr Christopher TSE Hung-keung and President of Biel Crystal (Hong Kong) Manufactory Limited, Dr YEUNG Kin-man.
