Announcement of New Directorate Appointment

New appointments at the Directorate rank have been made with effect from 6 January 2021.

Ir TANG Sek-man, Jimmy

Ir TANG Sek-man, Jimmy has been appointed as Assistant Executive Director. He assumes the role of Vice Principal of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) and concurrently as the Deputy Academic Director of the Engineering Discipline. He is also responsible for development of the Aviation and Maritime Education Centre and the Smart City Innovation Centre.

Ir TANG is a seasoned engineer in the industry and in vocational and professional education and training (VPET). He has been appointed as Specialist of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications and also Assessor of the Hong Kong Accreditation Services. Prior to this appointment, he had been the Head of Department of Engineering in the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi).

Ir TANG holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (The University of Sheffield, UK), a Master’s Degree of Science in Engineering (The University of Hong Kong) and a Master’s Degree of Science in Scientific Computing (Hong Kong Baptist University). He is also a Registered Professional Engineer of Hong Kong, a Chartered Engineer of the United Kingdom, a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Royal Aeronautical Society of the United Kingdom, and a Member of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Dr WONG Wai-mei, Kitty

Dr WONG Wai-mei, Kitty has been appointed as Assistant Executive Director. She assumes the role of Principal of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong) and concurrently as the Academic Director of the Languages Discipline to take charge of campus operations and steer the development of the Discipline respectively.

Prior to this appointment, Dr Wong had served as the Head of the Centre for Learning and Teaching to provide professional and pedagogical training and support to enhance quality of learning and teaching of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) programmes. She had also served as the Deputy Director of Quality Enhancement and Learning & Teaching with extensive experience in academic accreditations, and development of quality assurance and quality enhancement systems.

Dr Wong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts (The University of Hong Kong), a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics (The University of Sydney, Australia), and a Doctor of Education degree (The University of Leicester, UK).
