Announcement of New Directorate Appointment

Dr LAM Yee-nee Elita

Dr LAM has been appointed as Assistant Executive Director. She assumes the role of Vice Principal of the Hong Kong Design Institute & Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee), and concurrently as the Deputy Academic Director of the Design Discipline.

Dr LAM has held previously several key positions at the Vocational Training Council (VTC), including Head of Academic Development, Head of Department of Fashion and Image Design at the Hong Kong Design Institute, Deputy Director of Quality Enhancement and Learning & Teaching, and Head of Centre for Learning and Teaching.

Dr LAM have received a number of awards and honors for her research and innovative design, including the International Council of Design (ICoD) Education Award in 2022 and Fellowship from the Textile Institute in 2020. Her research in the biomechanics of footwear design has earned her a patent in 2019, whilst her smart clothing design won awards in the Red Dot Design Concept and International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva in 2018. She received recognition with the Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Award in 2017 for her publication on natural dye.

Dr LAM holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Design and Design Management (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology), a Master of Philosophy (Hong Kong Polytechnic University) and a Doctoral Degree in Professional Studies by Public Works in Design Education (Middlesex University London).
