The Vocational Training Council (VTC) held the VTC Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony today (17 October) to present the VTC Honorary Fellowships to four industry leaders in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and the community. This year, the recipients are Mr Simon CHAN Sai-ming, Mr Roy LO Wa-kei, Mr Paul TAI Lun, Dr YAU Wing-kwong (Please refer to Annex for details). Together with the Honorary Fellowships conferred this year, the total number of VTC Honorary Fellows has exceeded 100 since 2007.

Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid YEUNG HO Poi-yan, addressed the ceremony as the Guest of Honour. She complimented the VTC Honorary Fellows on their staunch support to VTC and contributions to the development of VPET. She commended VTC for not only seeking to provide skills to students and skilled hands to industries, but also shape a mindset for lifelong learning in students, thus providing industries with a workforce that can improve with the times and in turn helps the sustainability of Hong Kong’s industries. She hoped to see more VTC graduates joining the civil service and promised that they will find their career in the civil service fulfilling, satisfying and a source of pride as they devote themselves for the betterment of the society.

VTC Chairman, Mr Tony TAI thanked the Honorary Fellows for their unwavering support to the development of VPET, and their invaluable advice on setting strategic directions for VPET over the years. With the support of their professional networks, VTC students gained access to a broad range of exposure opportunities, including workplace learning and various industry collaborative projects. He added that VTC will echo the government’s policy in cultivating talents for Hong Kong and our country, continue to collaborate with different industries to provide learning opportunities for our students and trainees, including workplace learning opportunities and non-local exchange, so as to nurture the needed talents for the sustainable social and economic growth of Hong Kong.

Established in 1982, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) is the largest vocational and professional education and training provider in Hong Kong. The mission of VTC is to provide a valued choice to school leavers and working people to acquire the values, knowledge and skills for lifelong learning and enhanced employability, and also to provide support to industries for their manpower development.
