    The charity arm of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association (HKCEA), known as the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Charitable Foundation (HKCECF), and the China Development Bank (CDB) Hong Kong Branch, have collectively donated HK$600,000 to Vocational Training Council (VTC). This generous donation aims to support Hong Kong competitors in preparing for and participating in the 48th WorldSkills Competition scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China in 2026, thereby enabling more young people to recognise the value of skills and promoting the development of vocational and professional education and training (VPET). 

    The Cheque Presentation Ceremony was held on 19 December at the Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre, located on the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Morrison Hill campus. Mr XU Wei, Director (Local Affairs Department) of HKCEA, Mr LI Xiguang, Chief Executive of CDB Hong Kong Branch and Mr Donald TONG, VTC Executive Director officiated at the Ceremony.

    Mr LI, Chief Executive of CDB Hong Kong Branch, stated that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the CDB and the 15th anniversary of the Hong Kong Branch. As the sole branch of CBD located outside Mainland China, the Hong Kong Branch has steadfastly upheld the mission of “supporting national development and delivering a better life for the people”. It actively contributes to the development of Hong Kong, and earnestly addresses people’s concerns and challenges. With the collective support of the Head Office of CDB and HKCEA, CDB Hong Kong Branch aims to continue its collaboration with VTC to promote VPET in Hong Kong, thereby fostering the development of outstanding talents across various industries. This joint aspiration reflects the shared commitment of both parties to transform Hong Kong into a thriving hub of talent. For the third consecutive year, the CDB Hong Kong Branch has supported VTC in promoting VPET, with a total donation amount reaching two million HK dollars.

    Mr TONG, VTC Executive Director, expressed his gratitude to HKCEA and CDB for their contributions to Hong Kong’s VPET and skills training. He said that WorldSkills Competition brings together young competitors from around the world to compete and offers a platform for experts to exchange knowledge, thereby enhancing and promoting vocational skills. VTC will continue nurturing talents to meet industry needs by providing high-quality programmes and skills training. VTC will also provide students with opportunities to participate in Mainland and international competitions, broadening their perspectives and enhancing their professional knowledge and skills. These efforts will inject more impetus into the talent development of the country and Hong Kong, driving the sustainable development of society.
