With the generous donation from Dorsett Hospitality International (“DHI”), the VTC’s inaugural “Innovation Award & Seed Fund Scheme” was launched in the academic year 2021/22.  The Scheme aims to unlock Vocational Training Council (VTC) higher diploma students’ innovative ideas in their final year projects, and selected projects receive funding for research and further development.

This year’s finalists covered products for 8 sectors, including medical, retail, hospitality, finance, new energy, transportation, sports and elderly wellness & health. Judging Panel reviewed the projects according to their level of innovation, practicality, market potential, commercial value or community impact, etc. in the final pitching held in June.  Two teams were given the Gold Awards and would receive a seed fund to enhance their products to a marketable level within 6 months.

DHI believes in supporting education for innovation, and investing in and grooming young innovators to create a better future.  VTC Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre (“ITCC”) located at IVE(Morrison Hill) aims to nurture young talents and foster an innovation and entrepreneurial culture.  With the VTC and DHI collaboration, ITCC offers a platform for students to bring innovation to marketable solutions to the community and industry.

In recognition of DHI’s generous donation and support, the VTC named ITCC as "VTC Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre powered by Dorsett Hospitality International. The naming ceremony cum award presentation was held on 7 September and the highlights video of the Scheme was also premiered at the ceremony.
