The Hong Kong Jockey Club Vocational Education Scholarship Awardees Sharing

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships - Vocational Education Scholarship Awardees Sharing Session 2023 was held on 31 August 2023 at the Happy Valley Stand, Happy Valley Racecourse. Around 25 awardees who received local or overseas scholarships attended the sharing session to connect and learn from each other’s achievements. Ms Elsie Tsang, Executive Manager, Charities of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, encouraged the awardees to embrace their dreams and aspirations while continuing to contribute to the community. The guest speaker Ms Marjorie Yang, GBS, Chairman of Esquel, shared that a positive attitude and creativity were essential for her overcoming various challenges in the textile and apparel industry.

Two new awardees who are going to study degree programmes abroad also shared how they committed to pursuing their dreams. Ms Yumi Yau shared her plans of studying sports training overseas, with the goal of designing sports programmes for people with special needs in the future. Ms Yumi Lam shared how the scholarship has helped her break traditional boundaries and pursue her dream of becoming a pilot. Lastly, Ms Winnie Ngan, Director of the Institutional Advancement Office of VTC, expressed sincere gratitude for the generosity of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and encouraged students to continuously develop their skills and leverage their expertise to serve the community.

Since 2016/17, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships have supported over 100 graduates from the Diploma of Vocational Education to pursue further studies at Higher Diploma and also 21 graduates of Higher Diploma to pursue further studies at overseas degree programmes in the fields of Aerospace, Marine, Environmental, Architecture, Design and Hospitality.
