Dr Roy Chung has continually supported the development of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) in Hong Kong. With his generous donations, three new initiatives are established this academic year to support students progressing to VTC Higher Diploma programmes and Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). In recognition of Dr Chung’s steadfast contributions to VPET development, the initiatives, as shown, are named after the Bright Future Charitable Foundation.

Outstanding Student-Athlete Scholarship

The Scholarship is to support outstanding student-athletes to pursue a VTC higher diploma and/or degree in THEi. By encouraging student-athletes to thrive academically and complete their tertiary study, the awardee will receive a renewable scholarship each study year from higher diploma to degree with satisfactory performance. The Scholarship also aims to elevate the awareness of VPET as a valued choice of articulation for Secondary School, Youth College students or equivalent.

STEM in PE Design Competition

The scheme adopts the competition-based learning approach to drive primary and secondary students’ learning in STEM with an application in physical education (PE). The Competition not only encourages primary and secondary students to engage in STEM learning and physical exercises but also promotes VPET and VTC programmes because our higher diploma students will participate as the competition organisers and project supervisors. This will further facilitate peer learning and sharing of VTC’s learning outcomes with the community.

Outstanding Green Scholarship

The Scholarship aims to recognise THEi students who achieved outstanding performance in the Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management (BSc HALM) and demonstrated excellent professional development in horticultural and arboriculture practice. BSc HALM is the first and only Bachelor programme in the discipline related to the greening professions of horticulture and arboriculture in Hong Kong.
