In appreciation of the Alistair Harvey Foundation's unwavering support, VTC officially names the IoT Innovation and Technology Centre at IVE (Sha Tin) after the Foundation

28 Apr 2023

In appreciation of the late Mr Alistair Harvey as well as a symbol of our shared vision with the Alistair Harvey Foundation, a ceremony was held to name the Alistair Harvey Foundation IoT Innovation and Technology Centre at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Shatin Campus on 28 April 2023.

Mr John RUDDY, the Trust Protector of the Alistair Harvey Foundation and Honorary Fellow of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), expressed his appreciation for the personal and professional growth of all the scholarship awardees over the past 18 years.  Mr Tony Tai, Chairman of the VTC, thanked the invaluable contribution by the Foundation and dedication to nurturing VPET talent, stating that it had further strengthened VTC's efforts in cultivating work-ready and future-ready talent for the industry.  The press release has been posted here.

The Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship was established in 2004 as per the last wish of the late Mr Alistair Harvey to support Hong Kong students from science and technology backgrounds to study local programmes, engage in exchanges, and pursue tertiary education in the UK.  Since its inception, the Foundation has donated over HK$100 million, making it as one of the largest private donations in VTC.  Over the years more than 200 VTC students have received this life-changing scholarship, with nearly 50 UK universities welcoming them.  More than half of these Harvey Scholars pursued master's or doctorate qualifications, and many have gone on to successful careers in their trades, making significant contributions to society.
