The VTC’s industry partners also enable students to connect
to the workplace via mentoring them as they work on real-life
projects. Examples included the Dairy Farm Corporate Brand
Product and Career Webpage Design Projects, the Spaghetti
House marketing project, and the Harbour Cruise – Bauhinia
and Hong Kong Trade Development Council “Becoming An
Entrepreneur” Project.
During the year, a total of 54,130 students enrolled in the
VTC’s pre-employment programmes. More than 13,400
students graduated from the full-time pre-employment
programmes offered by our member institutions. Around 37%
of graduates pursued further full-time studies and 90% of the
remaining graduates secured employment.
VET in the Secondary Education Sector
The VTC actively promotes VET among secondary school
students to help them plan for their future studies and
career path. In this aspect, we provide senior secondary
students with a wide spectrum of Applied Learning (ApL)
courses under the new curriculum.
In 2012/13, 10 ApL courses were offered for 2,600
Secondary 5 students, providing them with opportunities
to explore their orientation for further studies and career
aspirations. A school-based curriculum with a set of elective
subjects was also provided to 220 students at the Yeo Chei
Man Senior Secondary School.
