Multifaceted Learning Opportunities
At the VTC, students have been given ample opportunities to
move from the classroom into real-world practice, expanding
their global perspective.
In 2012/13, there were more than 6,000 students joining
programmes in the Mainland while about 300 students
participated in overseas visits covering Japan, Korea,
Macao, Singapore, Germany, Italy and the UK. More than
230 students of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational
Education (IVE) participated in industrial attachment
programmes in Mainland companies in various provinces.
Twenty students from the Business Administration Discipline
also participated in a 40-day industrial attachment
programme in Singapore.
In June 2012, 200 local and international students from
around the world converged on the HKDI campus for the
World Design Summer Camp. As one of the signature
programmes of 2012 Hong Kong Design Year, the 11-day
event facilitated cultural exchange and sharing of views on
design through a series of events including design master
talks, seminars and workshops, and a study visit to Pearl
River Delta.
We also joined hands with the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) to organise the MIT Summer Workshop
2012 under the MIT-China Educational Technology Initiative
to promote cultural exchange between American students
and Chinese students. Over 70 VTC students participated in
the workshop and benefited from this invaluable opportunity
to explore other cultures and expand horizons.
