Mr YEUNG Wai-sing, MH was conferred the VTC Honorary Fellowship by Secretary for Labour and Welfare Mr Matthew CHEUNG, GBS, JP at Graduation Ceremony 2013

Mr YEUNG Wai-sing is a successful restaurateur and Chairman of the Association for Hong Kong Catering Services Management Limited since 1996. He has made significant contributions to the catering industry and is very active in community services. He is now a member of the Eastern District Council and has chaired the Committee on Promotion of the Olympic Games.
 

Mr Yeung has rendered invaluable support to the work of the VTC. He is the Convenor of the Catering Industry Training Group of IVDC since 2009. He has offered tremendous support and guidance to the development of IVDC’s Chinese catering programmes by sharing his professional advice on industry trends, participating in course marketing and promotion and playing key roles in quality assurance. He has conducted class visits on many occasions and has given valuable advice to trainees and trainers. With the help of Mr Yeung, IVDC has successfully launched some 220 Chinese catering classes, and some 3400 trainees were trained. Apart from making contribution behind the scene, Mr Yeung also spared his valuable time to teach in IVDC classes. In the class, he shared his precious experience in the operation of restaurant businesses and brought unparalleled inspiration and encouragement to aspiring professionals. With Mr Yeung’s support and guidance, the courses earned good reputation in the community.
 

Mr Yeung has also been very supportive in the wider VTC context. He was a member of the organising committee for the well-known pioneering programme Professional Diploma in Chinese Catering Management (often known as the Tao Miao Programme), jointly organised with the Tao Heung Group. Mr Yeung is a member of the Chinese Cuisine Training Institute Training Board since 2005 and has taken up as Vice Chairman since 2007. He is also an active member of its Working Party on Marketing and Promotion, and has been serving as the Convenor since 2007. He has actively led promotion of the Institute to the community and participated in various activities of the Institute. He has also been invited to join the International Culinary Institute Steering Committee as a member.
 

Mr Yeung frequently contributes to the development of the industry and makes use of the Association as platform for talks, technical exchanges and seminars. Mr Yeung was awarded VTC’s 30th Anniversary Outstanding Contribution Award in 2012. He was also awarded the “Planning Master of China Hotel Industry”, “Grand Award on Promoting the Development of the Industry”, and “Grand Contributor in Promoting the Development of the Industry” by the China Hotel Association in 2008, 2009 and 2013 respectively!
