Honorary Fellowships

Mr William LEUNG Wing-cheung is Chief Executive Officer of Sun Hung Kai Financial Limited, and is formerly an Executive Director of Hang Seng Bank. Mr Leung possesses over 40 years’ experience in banking and finance, holding key positions in major financial institutions in Hong Kong and Australia, including American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, Visa International and MasterCard International. He is Honorary Certified Financial Management Planner of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.
 

Mr Leung serves a spectrum of community and public organisations. He is Chairman of Employees Retraining Board (ERB), Chairman of Estate Agents Authority, Chairman of Hong Kong Creative Arts Centre, Emeritus Chairman of Hong Kong Dance Company, and Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Heart Foundation. He is a member of the Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee, and a co-opted Member of Youth Education, Employment and Training Task Force of the Commission on Poverty of HKSAR. Mr Leung was also member of Investor Education Advisory Committee, under the Security and Futures Commission.
 

On the academic front, Mr Leung is Immediate Past Chairman of Council of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He was awarded Distinguished Alumni Award by the Hong Kong Baptist University in 2013/14, and is Chairman of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation. He previously served as Treasurer of the University Council and member of the University Court. He was appointed Justice of the Peace in 2005 and honoured with Bronze Bauhinia Star and Silver Bauhinia Star in 2009 and 2016 respectively by the HKSAR Government.
 

In vocational and professional education, Mr Leung was a member of the Task Force on Promotion of Vocational Education, HKSAR and was previously a member of the Banking Industry Training Advisory Committee. He also joined the Committee on Management and Supervisory Training of VTC in 2000, and then took up as Chairman from 2001 to 2008. Being the Chairman of ERB, Mr Leung has been pivotal in building the close partnership between ERB and the VTC. The VTC has received the “Award for Curriculum Development” and the “Publicity and Promotion Award” under the ERB Manpower Development Scheme Award for five years since 2010. Being a core member of the selection panel for VTC’s directorate staff, Mr Leung has contributed his insights towards identifying the next generation of directors to lead VTC’s strategic development.
