Ir William CHAN Lee-shing has over 40 years of experience in the electrical and mechanical services industry. He is currently the President of Hong Kong Electrical Contractors’ Association Ltd, and member of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Education Bureau, providing expert advice to the implementation of the Qualifications Framework (QF). He was the Director of MECO Engineering Limited until early 2008.
Ir Chan participates actively in the services of district community and professional bodies. He is Member of the Southern District Council, Permanent President of Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association Limited, and Vice-President of The Hong Kong Island Federation Limited. He is also member of various committees and advisory panels of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.
Ir Chan is very supportive to VTC and the development of vocational education and training in Hong Kong. He has served in the Electrical and Mechanical Services Training Board for over 10 years and has since September 2002 assumed the chairmanship. He also served on VTC’s Committee on Technologist Training and was its Vice-Chairman until 2003. In 2008, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Discipline Sub-Committee of VTC’s Engineering Disciplines Advisory Board.
Over the years, Ir Chan has contributed substantially to the promotion of VTC’s courses and services. Through various social and cultural activities orchestrated by him and arranged with neighbourhood and local administrative bodies, he has helped to enhance the public knowledge of the spectrum of vocational education and training opportunities that VTC offers to young people and working adults.
Ir Chan was appointed Justice of the Peace in 2008 by the Government of the HKSAR.
