Dr Joseph LEE Chung-tak, GBS, OStJ, JP was conferred the VTC Honorary Fellowship by Chairman of Education Commission Mr Tim LUI Tim-leung, BBS, JP at Graduation Ceremony 2015

Dr Joseph LEE Chung-tak is a renowned social entrepreneur.  As an advocate of social entrepreneurship, Dr Lee is dedicated to promoting “Creating Shared Value” in businesses.  He founded Wofoo Foundation in 1997 to support various community and educational initiatives.  He also established the W F Joseph Lee Primary School, the first primary school in Tin Shui Wai under the Direct Subsidy Scheme; and set up the Grace Nursing Home, the first contract nursing home awarded by the Social Welfare Department.  He has made tremendous contribution to the education and social service development in Hong Kong.
 

Dr Lee takes the social affairs of Hong Kong close to his heart and has served in multiple public capacities.  Dr Lee was the Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress of the PRC for three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013; he also chaired the Commission on Youth, and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education.  He is currently Chairman of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee of the HKSAR Government, Deputy Chairman of the Consultative Committee on Economic and Trade Co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, and Vice-chairperson of Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund Task Force under the Commission of Poverty.
 

Dr Lee served as Council Member of VTC in 2005 and subsequently as Deputy Chairman from 2007 to 2013.  He has helped steer VTC from challenges to success.  He has also been serving as Member of the Standing Committee of VTC since 2013.  Over the years, Dr Lee has donated over HK$9 million to VTC through Wofoo Foundation to support a wide spectrum of holistic development initiatives for students.  These include the leadership training, civic education and social service activities under the Wofoo Leaders’ Network which help prepare VTC students to become responsible citizens and leaders for the future, and encourage them to serve the community.  The Wofoo Foundation Dr Joseph Lee Whole Person Development Education Centre in Tai Lam Chung was named in 2012 in appreciation of Dr Lee’s generous support to VTC.
 

Dr Lee was appointed Justice of the Peace in 2003.  He was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2000, and the Silver Bauhinia Star and Gold Bauhinia Star in 2008 and 2013 by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR respectively in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community.
