Dr Clement CHEN Cheng-jen, GBS, JP was conferred the VTC Honorary Fellowship by Chief Secretary for Administration Mr Stephen LAM, GBS, JP at Graduation Ceremony 2011

Dr Clement CHEN Cheng-jen, a public-spirited and distinguished industrialist, has over the years made relentless contributions to the industry and business development in Hong Kong. He is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, Chairman of the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund Board and former Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries. As a respected figure in the textile sector, he also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Textile Council of Hong Kong Limited.
 

Dr Chen’s long association with the VTC began in 1989, when he served the Textile and Clothing Training Board (and its former bodies) as Member, Vice Chairman and Chairman, providing valuable insights on the manpower demand and training development for the industry. He was appointed as the Council Member of the VTC in 1998 and subsequently as the Deputy Chairman from 2004 to 2009. Since 2006 he has served as the School Supervisor and then as the School Manager of the Yeo Chei Man Senior Secondary School.
 

Dr Chen has maintained a strong commitment in supporting youth development through vocational education and training. With his extensive network, he has strengthened the collaborations between the industries and the VTC on various strategic fronts towards the common goal of enhancing the economic competitiveness of Hong Kong through vocational education and training. He has also contributed to soliciting valuable education and training opportunities for VTC students in the Mainland China. Students are benefitted with widening exposure to both the developments and economy of the Mainland China and enhanced career prospect in the country.
 

Dr Chen was awarded a Gold Bauhinia Star in 2017 for his meritorious public and community services.
