Results of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) were released today (20 July). This year, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) Central Admission Scheme will be run online starting today until 25 July or the applicants can pay a visit to various VTC campuses to apply for desired study programmes. In academic year 2022/23, the VTC will offer over 140 full-time programmes, leading to the awards of Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies, Diploma of Vocational Education and Diploma, providing diversified progression pathways for Secondary 6 (S6) students. Among these programmes, over 120 are subvented programmes.

VTC Central Admission Scheme for S6 Entry started at 9:00am today. During the first hour of the operation, about 23,000 visits were recorded, which is similar with the number of visits last year, including applicants applying for VTC Degree, Higher Diploma and Diploma programmes as well as applicants confirming acceptance of their “firm offers”.

“Conditional offers” that applicants have received earlier will be converted to “confirmed offers” today if the applicants’ HKDSE results meet the stipulated requirements. These applicants are required to confirm acceptance of their offers through the VTC S6 Admission Portal (the Portal) between 9:00am and 4:00pm today.

For new applicants and applicants without offers, they can apply online through the Portal for their preferred programmes or visit various VTC campuses during the stipulated hours of the VTC Central Admission Scheme from 20 to 25 July.. Applicants will be notified of the offer result through the Portal and via email.

All applicants who have been offered places are required to complete the registration online before 12:00 noon on 25 July, or else the offer will become null and void.

In academic year 2022/23, the VTC will provide a wide range of full-time Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies, Diploma of Vocational Education and Diploma programmes tailored for S6 students, leading to diversified and flexible progression pathways for HKDSE candidates. For Higher Diploma programmes, about 100 programmes offered by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and International Culinary Institute (ICI) and most of them are subvented.

To cater to the different aspirations and progression needs of S6 students, the VTC will also offer over 30 subvented diploma programmes. IVE will provide eight Diploma of Foundation Studies as equivalents to five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 (including Chinese Language and English Language). Graduates are eligible to apply for related positions in the civil service. Meanwhile, the Youth College will offer 18 Diploma of Vocational Education programmes, covering study areas of Business and Services, Engineering as well as Design and Information Technology, to provide seamless and flexible progression pathways for students and equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills to pave the way for future success in their studies and career. The Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI), Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) and ICI will also provide seven employment-focused diploma programmes to help students join the respective professions.

Furthermore, the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) will offer vocationally-oriented degree programmes, including those covered by the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP). Interested students can apply for the SSSDP degree programmes through the Joint University Programme Admissions System (JUPAS). Students can also apply for THEi’s self-financing degree programmes including a variety of choices from Food Science and Safety, Chinese Medicinal Pharmacy, Nutrition and Healthcare Management and more via the VTC Central Admission Scheme.
