    Ms May CHAN Suk-mei was conferred the VTC Honorary Fellowship by then Chief Secretary for Administration Mr Henry TANG, GBM, GBS, JP at Graduation Ceremony 2010

    Ms May CHAN Suk-mei is the Director of News and Public Affairs of the Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company Limited since 1989. A veteran journalist with over 30 years of experience and a strong mass media background, she has extensive management and practical experience in the mass communications industry. Ms Chan was the former Chairperson and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong News Executives’ Association. She is also the Chairman of Advisory Committee of the School of Communication of the Hong Kong Baptist University and Chairperson of Hong Kong Journalism Education Foundation starting December 2010. With tremendous passion for her work, Ms Chan remains at the frontline, hosting two insightful weekly social affairs radio programmes – Saturday Forum and Beautiful Sunday.
     

    Ms Chan is also devoted to serving the community and is a keen supporter of vocational education and training. She was a member of VTC’s Mass Communications Training Board from 1998 to 2005 and has been serving as the Chairlady since 2007. With her wealth of professional experience and extensive industry network, she has steered the manpower survey in support of the manpower planning and development for the mass communications industry. Her industry insight has also facilitated the work of the Business Administration Discipline in areas of course planning, curriculum development and formulation of quality assurance system for its range of industry-specific pre-employment and in-service programmes.
     

    Ms Chan was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR in 2000 for her contributions to the mass communications industry in Hong Kong. She was also appointed Justice of the Peace in 2007.
