Programme Aims | The programme aims at helping students develop, through a balanced curriculum with generic and vocational knowledge and skills, and structured whole person development competencies in a specific trade so as to enhance their opportunities for employment and/or further studies. The Electrical Engineering Programme covers mainly fundamental knowledge and skills required in the electrical / lift and escalator services sectors. Graduates may choose to seek employment or further their studies. | |
Career Prospects | Graduates may seek employment as apprentices in the areas of electrical engineering, lift and escalator engineering, building services engineering and facility management. | |
Articulation | Upon completion of the first-year full-time study, Electrical Engineering Stream students can opt-in to join the Earn and Learn Scheme as apprentices and further complete and award the Diploma of Vocational Education – Earn and Learn Scheme Programmes in part-time mode. Finally, awarded a Diploma of Vocational Education upon completion of designated bridging programs. Upon completion of the first-year full-time study, Lift and Escalator Stream students can only join the Earn and Learn Scheme as apprentices and further complete and award the Diploma of Vocational Education – Earn and Learn Scheme (Lift and Escalator) Programme in part-time mode. The trainee completed the designated bridging courses to obtain the DVE award. Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules) are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Professional Recognition | Students of Electrical Engineering stream who are employed and registered as apprentices in the relevant trades could be exempted part of the training required. The apprenticeship could thus be shortened, normally up to a maximum of 12 months. Upon completion of the apprenticeship training, you may apply for electrical worker (Grade A) “REW” registration with Certificate of Vocational Education in electrical engineering and sufficient relevant experience. Upon completion of the apprenticeship training, graduates of Lift and Escalator stream may apply for Registered Lift and Escalator Worker “RLW & REW” registration with sufficient relevant experience. | |
