Programme Aims | The programme aims at helping students to develop, through a balanced curriculum with generic and vocational knowledge and skills, and structured whole person development competencies in the engineering trade so as to enhance their opportunities for employment and/or further studies. The Mechanical Engineering Programme covers mainly fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge and skills required in the engineering trade. Graduates may choose to seek employment or further their studies. | ||
Career Prospects | Graduates may be employed as apprentices or engineering assistants in engineering trade. They could work in mechanical engineering skills-related jobs and provide technical support to engineering trade and infrastructures. | ||
Articulation | Upon completion of the first-year full-time study, students can join the Earn and Learn Scheme as apprentices and further complete the Diploma of Vocational Education – Earn and Learn Scheme Programmes with DVE-ELS award in part-time mode. After graduating from the DVE-ELS, the trainee can complete relevant bridging courses to obtain the DVE award. Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules) are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Professional Recognition | Students who have completed the first year full-time studies and employed as registered apprentices in the relevant trades could be exempted part of the training required. The apprenticeship could thus be shortened, normally up to a maximum of 12 months. | ||
