Entrance Requirements
Completion of Secondary 6 (under the New Senior Secondary academic structure) or equivalent.
Programme Aims
This programme aims at helping students to enhance their opportunities for employment and / or further studies, through a balanced curriculum with generic and vocational knowledge and skills, and structured whole person development competencies in a specific trade. The Automotive Technology programme covers mainly the basic principles of vehicle systems and servicing skills. Graduates may choose to seek employment or further their studies.
Career Prospects
Graduates may be employed as technician apprentices, assistant training officers or service advisor trainees in the automobile industry.
Articulation
Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules) are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Professional Recognition
Graduates who are employed and registered as apprentices in the relevant trades could be exempted part of the training required. The duration of apprenticeship could thus be shortened, normally up to a maximum of 12 months.
Notes
  1. Normally 3 semesters during one academic year, depending on students’ study progress and academic results.
  2. For some modules of the programmes, the medium of instruction and assessments is Chinese.
  3. Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
