Entrance Requirements
Completion of Secondary 6 (under the New Senior Secondary academic structure) OR Equivalent.
Programme Aims
This programme aims at developing students through a balanced curriculum composing of both generic and vocational knowledge and skills with competencies in relevant trade so as to enhance their opportunities for employment and / or further studies. The Electronic and Computer Engineering programme covers fundamental knowledge and practical skills required in electronics, computer and digital systems as well as the telecommunications and surveillance industry. Graduates may choose to seek employment or further their studies.
Career Prospects
Graduates may be employed as technician apprentices, engineering assistant, customer service assistant, technical salesman, or merchandising assistant. Graduates may work in the areas of computer systems and equipment, firmware products and automated systems, healthcare electronics, office and home automation, mobile communications and internet systems, environmental lighting systems, intelligent domestic surveillance systems.
Articulation
Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules) are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Notes
  1. Normally 3 semesters during one academic year, depending on students’ study progress and academic results.
  2. For some modules of the programmes, the medium of instruction and assessments is Chinese.
  3. Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
