Advancing to the WorldSkills Competition - Four YCI Engineering Students Successfully Selected for Mechanical Engineering CAD Hong Kong Team
工程學四子成功入選港隊 進軍CAD機械繪圖「世界技能大賽」
After a two-year hiatus, YCI's engineering students shone at the Hong Kong WorldSkills Selection Competition for Mechanical Engineering CAD category. Four first-year students earned recognition for their outstanding performance, and they will represent Hong Kong at the 2026 WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai. This technical competition tests precision and innovation in computer-aided design. YCI will continue to leverage its strengths in cultivating talent in mechanical engineering, supporting students in refining their skills, and preparing a new generation of engineers in Hong Kong.

Our Engineering students have claimed the Champion title at the Artificial Intelligence,
Innovation and
Technology Competition 2024-2025, organized by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).
Competing
against 10 shortlisted teams from prestigious secondary schools, our winning team captivated the
judging
panel with their groundbreaking project— "AI-based Road Defect Detection Digital Twin System".
Their
solution stood out for its innovative approach, technical sophistication, and real-world
applicability,
demonstrating how AI can enhance urban infrastructure and public safety.
香港教育大學主辦的「人工智能及創新科技比賽2024-2025」近日落幕,YCI工程課程參賽團隊憑藉其「AI-based Road Defect Detection Digital Twin
System」佳作從全港知名中學隊伍中脫穎而出,奪得冠軍。
YCI參賽作品採用人工智慧技術,能高效識別道路裂縫、坑窪等缺陷,其創新性、技術成熟度和實際應用價值獲得評委一致認可。這項技術不單展現了人工智慧在提升城市基礎設施管理和公共安全方面的潛力,為智慧城市建設提供了新的技術思路,也體現了同學將課堂專業知識轉化為實際創科應用的卓著能力。

Adding to their impressive accolades, our Engineering students have secured the 2nd Runner-Up
title at the prestigious Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition, triumphing over 170+ competing
secondary schools across Hong Kong. This outstanding achievement underscores our students'
innovative thinking, perseverance, and technical expertise, as well as the unwavering mentorship
of our dedicated teaching team.

We are pleased to announce the remarkable accomplishments of our Design students at the “PolyU Design Hatch Awards 2025”. We extend our warmest congratulations to Choi Cheuk Tung, Kaylee for receiving “The People's Choice Award”, a testament to her creative vision and ability to resonate with audiences. Equally commendable is Lam Wing Yee, Wendie's achievement as 2nd Runner-Up, recognized by the judging panel for her exceptional design work. These achievements reflect not only the students’ hard work and innovation but also the unwavering support and guidance of our design teachers.

We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievements of our students in the Asia-Pacific
English Writing Competition 2025 (Senior Secondary division)! Our Engineering Year one student,
Yau King Yin Tyler has made us immensely proud by securing the Gold Award and being crowned the
Overall Champion—a remarkable testament to his creativity and mastery of the English language.
Additionally, Ngai Chi Yeung Ernest and Nasim Rumjahn have both earned Bronze Awards, showcasing
their exceptional writing talents. Their success highlights the dedication and hard work of both
the students and their mentors.
YCI Students Sweep Five Major Awards at YC Project Competition
YCI學生於「YC Project Competition」勇奪五大獎項
At the recent "YC Project Competition", YCI students showcased their creativity, sweeping five major awards. For design projects, the "CLP Upcycling Fashion Show" and "Vintage Hong Kong - Fusion of Time" projects won second and third prizes, reinventing old items with unique design and blending tradition with modernity. The engineering projects "The Road Twins" and "Smart Homes, Limitless Living" leveraged AI and IoT technology to address community needs, earning third prize and the Most Community-Serving Project award. YCI's all-round excellence across design and engineering demonstrated their students' ability to innovate and make a real impact.

Facing fierce competition from 6 elite squads at Youth College's Ultimate Fitness
Challenge, our DVB (Sport) team triumphed as 2nd runner-up—a remarkable achievement
against some of the fittest contenders. Their medal-winning performance demonstrated
perfect synergy of strength, stamina and strategy. With only two teams finishing ahead
of them, this victory proves their dedication to athletic excellence. Every drop of
sweat and hour of training paid off in this high-energy challenge.

Silver at Cross-Strait Youth Skills Competition
工程學生於海峽兩岸青年技能邀請賽勇奪銀獎
At the recently held "2025 Cross-Strait, Hong Kong and Macau Youth Skills Invitation
Competition" in Shanghai, Year 1 engineering student, Shao Ying Kuen, represented Hong Kong and
secured a silver medal. During the competition, Shao demonstrated his mastery of engineering
skills learned in the classroom, such as CAD drafting and 3D printing.
