Completion of Secondary 3 or equivalent.
Programme Aims
Watch design, manufacture and maintenance consist of state-of-the-art technology and craftsmanship. Both manufacturers and dealers of famous watch brands require their employees receiving a formal training prior to do maintenance jobs in the service centres. The college provides Swiss professional brand equipment and tools, allowing students to experience the unique professional facilities in the industry. The programme aims to help students to develop, through a balanced curriculum with generic and vocational knowledge and skills, and structured whole person development competencies in a specific trade so as to well equip them working in the watch and clock industry later. Graduates may choose to seek employment or pursue further studies.
Career Prospects
Graduates may be employed as watchmaker trainee, assistant engineers, technician trainees, watch designer trainees, watch maintenance trainees, sales and merchandising assistants, trading assistants, assistant quality control officers or technician apprentices etc. They may work in the areas of watch design and development, sales and marketing, production management, watch product testing, project management, watch merchandising and watch maintenance, etc.
Articulation
Upon completion of the first-year full-time study, students can join the watch and clock industry as apprentices and further complete the Diploma of Vocational Education Programmes with both CVE and DVE awards in part-time mode.
 
Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules) are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Students can participate in The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries Ltd. – Dr. Samson Sun Scholarship, which is unique to this Programme and offers the opportunity to study in Switzerland for a short-term study or to pursue a higher diploma course in watch and clock related fields.
Professional Recognition
Graduates who are employed and registered as apprentices in the relevant trades can be exempted part of the training required.

  1. For some modules of the programmes, the medium of instruction and assessments is Chinese.
  2. Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
