Providing diversified progression pathways, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) will offer some 140 full-time Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies (DFS), Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) and Diploma programmes in Academic Year 2023/24, covering about 13,000 study places. Tailored for Secondary 6 students, the programmes are open to online applications from 10 November 2022 (Thursday) to 28 February 2023 (Tuesday).

To help Secondary 6 students plan well for their future pathways, the VTC will make early conditional offers available this year. Students who submit their applications on or before 28 February 2023 may receive the programme conditional offers in around late March 2023, so that they can focus on preparing for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) with peace of mind.

In Academic Year 2023/24, VTC member institutions including the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the International Culinary Institute (ICI) will offer near 100 Higher Diploma programmes. The VTC closely collaborates with industry partners and emphasises workplace exposure. We offer diverse and flexible training opportunities for students including workplace attachment, VTC Earn and Learn Scheme and various learning and research projects for students to apply their knowledge and skills in the real-life workplace and grasp professional know-how and practical techniques to sharpen their competitive edges.

To cater to the different aspirations and progression needs of Secondary 6 students, the VTC will also provide more than 30 government-subvented diploma programmes, including eight DFS programmes that cover different professional streams. The HKSAR Government has accepted the VTC DFS as a qualification in application for positions in the civil service that require five HKDSE subjects at Level 2, including English Language and Chinese Language, as an entry requirement.

In parallel, the Youth College offers a diversity of DVE programmes to provide seamless and flexible progression pathways for students and equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills to pave the way for future success in their studies and career. The Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI) / Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) / ICI will also provide various employment focused diploma programmes. (General entrance requirements of respective programmes are listed at Annex 1).

Students are invited to submit applications through the VTC S6 Admissions Portal (www.vtc.edu.hk/admission) for programmes of the various VTC member institutions (Annex 2). Programme choices should be specified when making applications.

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) will offer a range of vocationally-oriented degree programmes including programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) of the HKSAR Government, covering areas such as fashion design, product design, landscape architecture, horticulture, arboriculture and landscape management, culinary arts and management, sports and recreation management, civil engineering, building services engineering and surveying. Eligible local students under the SSSDP will be entitled to subsidies amounting to HK$44,950 or HK$78,280 per annum. Students can apply via the JUPAS website on or before 7 December 2022. Students who pursue other vocationally-oriented self-financing programmes and who are eligible to apply for the Non-means tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS) will be entitled to an annual non-means tested subsidy amounting to HK$33,200*.

Separately, VTC member institutions, IVE, HKDI, ICI and THEi will host the Info Days on 11 & 12 November and 18 & 19 November 2022 (Fridays and Saturdays). HKDSE candidates, secondary school students, parents and teachers can stay tuned to the online talks on admission, disciplines and programmes and join the interactive Q&A sessions to receive more VTC study information. Students and parents can also visit VTC’s campuses in person to acquaint themselves with the innovative and interactive teaching and learning facilities and take part in discipline demonstrations and experiential workshops. Interested students and parents are welcome to register for online talks and campus visits and understand more about the Info Days via websites www.ive.edu.hk/infoday and http://infoday.thei.edu.hk .

    * This refers to the maximum non-means-tested annual subsidy for Academic Year 2022/23. Subsidy for Academic Year 2023/24 is to be announced.
